I want this green house room

I am apartment hunting right now and I have an increasing list of unreasonable demands. A gas stove, a yard I can garden in, pet friendly, a dishwasher, washing machine...oh yes and very cheap, reasonable rent. I realise that I can't necessarily get all, or even any, of my wishlist but I do really want to get a greenroom/solarium.

I love the idea for this one I saw on apartment therapy. If I possibly can, I want to find a lovely sunroom like this one, paint it light green (a slightly less yellow, more minty shade maybe) fill it with loads of plants and eat my breakfast in it every day. If possible a little daybed for a reading, catnaps and tea drinking area. I love how the green walls and the green plants combine to filter the light in a way that feels like being under a leafy canopy.

  1. That's a lot of green ... albeit very tranquil. Your requirements in an apartment aren't all that unreasonable. The yard/garden, pet friendly and washer shouldn't be that hard to find. You might luck into a sunroom in an older home in South Oak Bay or Fairfield. If not, just create your own in whatever apartment you find. Good luck!
Thanks for the link to the Apartment Therapy website!

  3. Hi Stephanie,

You're welcome for the encouragement! I'm a big believer in things working out the way they're meant to. Even if you have to compromise on some of your wants, you'll know instinctively when a place just feels right.

I've been thinking about your pineapple and celery plants, and wondering how you made out with them. Is celery really infinite? Was yours bitter? Any chance of an update sometime? It never occurred to me that either could be re-grown. So simple yet ingenious! Will definitely give both of them a try this year. And see if it works with orange yams, too!

    Keep your sunny side up!
